Stella Yu is with the Maternal Child Health Bureau of HRSA. Dr. Yu has served as the Healthy People 2000/2010 Coordinator for the maternal and child health focus area. She also is the Project Officer for the MCH Information Resource Center, which publishes Child Health USA, Women's Health USA, produces the Dataspeak Program, and administers the Graduate Student Internship Program. Dr. Yu has served as Chair and Program Chair of the Asian Caucus of the American Public Health Association. She has also authored many research articles and abstracts in the areas of health disparities, vulnerable populations, and maternal and child health services utilization. She served on the editorial boards of the Maternal and Child Health Journal and the Journal of Asian American Health. She received her Doctor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins, MPH from UC Berkeley, and B.S. from Cornell University.

Deborah Maiese was appointed in August 2000 as the Director, Office of Women’s Health, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this capacity, Ms. Maiese coordinates HRSA’s efforts to improve access to quality health services and eliminate disparities in health outcomes for women. She is responsible for expanding the agency’s health services research, education and programs related to women’s health. Ms. Maiese also serves as the Director of HRSA’s new Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness Initiative.
In her previous position, Ms. Maiese served as senior prevention policy advisor in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Office of Public Health and Science in HHS. She has been honored with numerous HHS awards, including the Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Assistant Secretary’s Health Awards for Superior Service and for Outstanding Team Performance. Prior to joining HHS, Ms. Maiese served in the Washington, D.C., Mayor’s Policy Office and worked with the Greater Washington Research Center. She has a masters degree in public administration from George Washington University.

Reem M. Ghandour joined the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Office of Women’s Health in August 2001 as a Presidential Management Intern (PMI) appointed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, she has been involved in a range of projects including the Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness initiative and Women’s Health USA 2003. As part of her PMI placement in the Secretary’s Office on Women’s Health, Ms. Ghandour coordinated the planning and execution of the 2002 National Young Women’s Health Summit: Parents as Partners in Washington, DC for which she received the Assistant Secretary for Health’s Award for outstanding team performance.
Reem began her career in women’s health as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence and continues to serve victims of gender-based violence as a rape crisis counselor and hospital advocate with the DC Rape Crisis Center. She has a Masters of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Dr. Haynes serves as Assistant Director for Science in the Office on Women’s Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. In this position, she coordinates science initiatives for the Office. For the eight years prior to her appointment, Dr. Haynes was Chief of the Health Education Section of the National Cancer Institute, where she launched several community breast cancer screening programs, physician early detection intervention programs, and dietary change and skin cancer prevention programs. Trained as an epidemiologist, she has published 70 articles on women’s health, including papers on women and heart disease, cholesterol levels, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and breast cancer screening. She has edited the book, How to Increase Breast Cancer Screening in Your Community. Dr. Haynes has contributed to the work of the National Action Plan on Breast Cancer, the Canada-USA Women’s Health Forum, the Federal Women’s Health and the Environment Interagency Committee, and other women’s health initiatives of the OWH.

Laurie Konsella, M.P.A., is the Regional Women's Health Coordinator for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health in Region VIII (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming). The Women's and Minority Health Statuts Indicators project was piloted in Region VIII and is now a national project. Ms. Konsella is co-project officer for this project. Ms. Konsella has been with the Office on Women's Health for seven years and previously worked for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She received her M.P.A. in 1991 from the University of North Dakota.
