Percent of mothers:

  • with children aged 6-17 increased from under 60 in 1975 to 77.3 in 2008
  • with children under age 6 increased from under 40 in 1975 to 64.0 in 2008

* The labor force comprises people who are employed and people who are actively seeking employment.

**Women with two or more children are categorized by the age of their youngest child.
