Estimated Numbers of AIDS Cases in Children Under Age 13, by Year of Diagnosis: 1992-2005
This demonstrates the significant decrease in new AIDS cases diagnosed each year among children under 13 years of age from 1992 to 2005: The greatest number of cases reported was in 1992 with an estimated total of 894 newly diagnosed AIDS cases. By 1997, the number of new cases reported had dropped to 329. The lowest newly diagnosed AIDS case count among children in this age group occurred in 2004 (50 cases), followed by 68 new AIDS diagnoses in 2005.
