High School Students Threatened or Injured with a Weapon on School Property in the Past Year, by Race/Ethnicity: 1993–2005

Overall the percentage of students threatened or injured with a weapon on school property increased among the racial/ethnic groups shown. Non-Hispanic White students were least likely to be threatened or injured with a weapon in 1993 and 2005, with about 6 and 7.2 percent, respectively. Non-Hispanic Black students were more likely than other racial/ethnic groups to have been threatened or injured with a weapon in 1993 (approximately 11 percent), however, that decreased to 8.1 percent in 2005. About 7 percent of Hispanic students were threatened or injured with a weapon in 1993 compared to 9.8 percent of Hispanic students in 2005.
