The percentage of breastfeeding women in all races has slowly increased from about 51% to 68.4% from 1990-2000. Breastfeeding in white women has gone from about 58% in 1990 to 71.5% in 2000. Hispanic women have gone from about 48% to 70.8%, while black women have made a sharp increase from 21% to 50.8% between 1990-2000.
